UX Audit | Jean & Pete

  • Remove Home from menu, consider moving Outlet Store to the top of the menu (far left), consider putting Cosmetics as a submenu under Shop, consider adding New and Outlet as submenus under Shop also - just to try and increase touch points
  • The first banner that pops up is an Augustine banner - would be good to see the Jean & Pete brand front and centre with a banner - also strong emphasis on the brand being NZ made
  • The announcement bar (at the very top) mentions same day dispatch but not shipping price or free shipping threshold. I can't find shipping info anywhere on the site. I would make the announcement bar "Shop our new range | Free shipping over $X & same day dispatch" and link it to the new arrivals, or "Browse our outlet store | Free shipping over $X & same day dispatch" and link to the outlet store
  • Add shipping info on "Purchasing Information" page, or add a new page for "Delivery and Dispatch" and add it to the footer menu
  • When I got to the cart I found the shipping information. I would make the postage options much less complicated. I use and recommend a flat rate shipping cost, I win some and lose some and factor the rural surcharge into my margin. I use Courier Post because the prices for sending satchels is the same across the country
  • The site was updates between when I started making notes and when I recorded the video, I noticed that there were some items with Jean & Pete showing as the vendor that weren't in the Jean & Pete collection (under Brands), the vendor on these items was changed when I recorded my recommendations, but it's a good idea to use automated collections so that the products are added to the correct collections without having to manually add them
  • Enable filter by tags on the website, add tags to the products so that customers can easily find what they're looking for in a collection
  • Crop all product images to the same size so that collections look more balanced, particularly with the different style of images from the different brands
  • Consider adding a heading to the reviews section so it's clear that they are reviews and consider making them move quicker or adding arrows so customers can click through the reviews
  • Copying product descriptions from brands can cause issues with SEO (as you'll find almost all stockists are copying the descriptions from brands and Google marks them as duplicate data), so consider re-writing product descriptions
  • There are two options for products with different colour ways available - either add "Assorted Colours" to the product title (and a colour swatch under the product in the collection page), or add different products for each colour way
  • If adding separate products for each colour way, link within the product to the other products. Eg: the Arwin Dress (I see that there is a listing for the nautical dress and then one listing for the other four options), if you add a listing for each colour way, within the Arwin Dress | Punch description add "Also available in Indie Blue [link], Black [link], White Black Stripe [link]" and something like "View the whole Betty Basics selection here" and link to the Betty Basics collection
  • Add a blurb to each collection for SEO purposes
  • Enable filter by tags on the website, add tags to the products so that customers can easily find what they're looking for in a collection

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Consider adding an Instagram app that not only shows your feed but also customer images that you are tagged in, or images using a particular hashtag (eg: #augustine)
  • Consider adding a loyalty programme to the store so people earn rewards for shopping online (and in store)
  • If there's a physical store I would add a map to the front page showing where the store is and include a call to action to encourage locals to shop in store
  • Add an "About" section to the home page and link the short blurb to an About page
  • Consider standardising pricing. I know that brands come with an RRP, but I would consider going with the same format, eg: some products are $99.95 and some are $44.99 and some are $179, I would use $99 and $45 and $179 or even $99.90 and $44.90 and $178.90
  • There are still some products to be updated with the correct vendor (mainly Home-Lee)
  • The "New" and "Sale" badges don't seem to be working on the site - this could be something to look into
  • I see that there are some products on pre-order, it might be worth adding an app to show these clearly as pre-order items. I have also had great success by offering a small discount on pre-order items (I know it's slightly different trading terms for clothing so this might not be necessary)
